The collaboration subcommittee arm of Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta, Task Force on COVID 19 committee led by its Chairman and some members visited the Director of Public Health, Ministry of Health in Ogun State, Dr. Soyinka, on Friday 15th May, 2020 to facilitate the donation of Personal Protective Equipments to the hospital by the Ogun State.
In a released statement by Dr. Abayomi Olajide, who is a member of the collaboration subcommittee, a Consultant Psychiatrist in the hospital and also the former Chairman, of Nigerian Medical Association in Ogun State, stated that the Director of Public Health in the state tendered unreserved apologies to the Institution for not including us in the scheme of things at the state level at this critical period.
He stated further that the Chairman of the collaboration subcommittee, Dr. Oluyinka Majekodunmi, spoke brilliantly well on the role of our great Institution in the state by extension the country.
Dr. Olajide maintained that the Chairman of the subcommittee advocated for more collaborations between our great Institution and the Health Ministry in the state.
Major highlight of the collaboration subcommittee visit to the Ministry of Health in Ogun State *was* the donation of first batch of PPEs from the Ministry through the logistic officer Mrs. Egbebi on behalf of the Ogun State government.
Other major gains from the visit of the collaboration subcommittee of the hospital Task Force committee on COVID 19 to the state ministry of health as stated by Dr. Olajide were the deal of setting a fully state government funded Tuberculosis Unit in our Institution and by extension an HIV centre immediately after the COVID 19.
He stated also that a physical training of health personnel for Infection Prevention and Control of COVID 19 will soon take place in the hospital where special design training for some core clinical members of staff comprising: Doctors, Nurses, Laboratory Scientists and so on, on how to attend to COVID 19 suspected cases.
He stated further that one of the members of the committee had been added to the Emergency operation centre and that a meeting of the management team ably led by the Acting Provost and Medical Director, Dr. Lucky Onofa with the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker was being facilitated.
Dr. Olajide, in concluding his remark, “thanked the members of the collaboration subcommittee and the hospital management for their trust and encouragement, "we enjoined all others to continue working for the progress of this Institution.” He stressed this further to conclude the released statement on behalf of the Chairman of the collaboration subcommittee of the hospital’s Task Force committee on COVID 19.
